It's usually more a case of learning or re-learning how to style when it's a different shape, even when it's just a minor change. Unless a chemical service was involved, there should be no real change in the structure of the hair (aside from length), so the only other reason I can think of is different prods used at the salon? If you get a color at the same time, then yeah- it's takes a bit of time for the cuticle to settle back down and your hair can seem a little wild.
