Car Question

Here's my delima. I've got a 2001 Honda Civic with appx 135K miles on it.

It has no airconditioning. I'm thinking of adding it. The quote is appx $1,800. I don't have any plans to get rid of this car anytime soon and it sucks sweating to death all the time. The car has no other mechanical problems that I'm aware of, 4 new tires, new battery and timing belt within the last 4 months. The interior and exterior are in good shape.

So do I put the air in or use that money toward saving for a newer car with less mileage? I have a bankruptcy on my credit (until about 2011) so any financing won't be at any good rates.
