I'm sorry, Scaeagles. As much as we complain about doctors thinking they are superhuman, I think in some level we think they are as well and it seems a bit shocking when they succumb to the same ills us ordinary humans do. I'll never forget when the surgeon who had labored long and hard over several months and many operations to save my mom's life came in to see us after one of her surgeries. He was exhausted but happy to report that he thought she might pull through, and then related his own unfolding drama with his father's poor health and how concerned he was that he might not make it. It really made me see him on a human level and it made me aware that he knew exactly how we were feeling.

Your doc sounds like a good man. My prayers go out to his family as well.
