We have been totally into the Italian TV in the wee hours of the night when we've collapsed in a heap from running around and trying to see as much as possible in the limited time we have. With the travel days in between cities, we end up with about 2-3 days per... and it is surprising just how much one can cram into those days. We've hit every major site and museum in each of the towns (plus a lot of lovely restaurants. Tuscan olive oil-- OMG) It's totally been one of those great trips that we can figure out how we fit it all in.
Rife, rife with innuendo Italy is.
On a side note, we seem to have lost some of our English as we continue to attempt to speak as much Italian as possible. (Yay, Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, for your Italian for Tourists course.) Anyway, Tom left our Florentine room to head to the shared bathroom (this, of all our hotels, is the earthiest) and on the way out he said "I go room shower now." It's a good thing we're taking copious notes about our experiences but waiting to journal about them until our return, because, geez, words, they are not working so well!
David took our breath away today and we feel as though we might be ruined as art-viewers forever. We'll see how long that lasts-- we're off to Rome tomorrow and something tells me Michaelangelo's other great work will surprise us too.
Oh, and Kevin, while waiting for our reservation time to see the David today, we ended up stopping into McDonald's for Coke and air conditioned seating. It was filled with, surprisingly, few tourists. It was also nice to see that their portions are much smaller than the American ones.
We may or may not have access to computers in Rome... but I assure you that massive trip journaling and an Incomparably Large Collection of Digital Photos We Took On Our New Digital Camera (It Rocks!) will accompany.
Ciao for now!
