I find that happens a lot, Neph - either it's not read all the way, it's skimmed, or it's just not altogether comprehended. There's a part of me that doesn't understand how that happens, and there's a part of me that's learned to accept that it does. Same with leaving kids in strollers while going on rides.
Losing a child and abandonment are two different things, IMO, and this was clearly abandonment.
