Tee Hee, thanks everyone.
I had the bestest birthday ever.
Early morning revelry with four antlered deer grazing through camp. Then a soul-fullfilling hike up a densely-forested ridge, through stands of wildflowers to an exposed granite dome with a panoramic view of the snow-glad, craggy peaks of the High Sierra glistening in the rising sunlight.
Back at camp, I am greeted by the gang who've hung on till the last day ... and a cake aflame with plentiful candles and festooned with a natural arch of bacon. A hearty chorus of
Happy Birthday to You is met with applause from other campsites along the hillside.
Then we retire to Lounge Camp for the the most swanky camp breakfast and baconfest that ever graced the wilderness. This was the pinnacle of Swank Camp and the melding of all our campsite pleasures into one delightful afternoon.
A peaceful trek through the Giant Forest of Sequoias with my tent buddy, NirvanaMan, finished off our long weekend of adventures quite nicely.
Even the mad race with the sun to strike camp and bug out, followed by a ghastly drive home till the wee hours could not mar the happiness, harmony and love of this magnificent birthday.
Thank you all who camped at Swank Camp. It was one of my best bithdays ever ... the capper to a fantastic weekend of fun and friendship.
