I have it, vinyl of course (it was 1981). I saw them at the Roxy around that time as well. DD, Adam and the Ants, Visage and Spandau Ballet were the new hot bands. They were in a class of music called "New Romantic" and we used to dance to their music at a club called The Veil run my Henry and Joseph of Vinyl Fetish records on Melrose. They were a BIG departure from the punk and death rock I was into. My curiosity didn't last long,though. I found all of those band to be a bit too mainstream pop for my tasts. |
Loved Planet Earth. When I saw them in 03, halfway through the song Simon forgot the words. Kind of a funny moment. Maybe he is getting old.
Coming from a small town (well, back in the early 80's Modesto was small), they didn't get a lot of airplay until the Rio album. I remember liking them and having to explain to people who they were and still getting funny looks. Same with Depeche Mode.
