I haven't had a coherent dream I could remember the next morning in quite some time. But last night, I dreamt that I was still living at home. And I came home after work or an errand to find both garage doors and the front door open and lights on. And the place was entirely cleaned out. Well, it was entirely cleaned out at first, but then when I went inside I could see it was cleaned out of anything important, but the miscellaneous detritus of daily living was still there.

It was clear that in the dream we had been robbed. All our possessions of any value were gone. Although in my dream my two cats lived there, and we did find them.

I called people to come home immediately. A crowd gathered. We wondered how it was that no one had seen anyone stealing this stuff and leaving the house wide open. At some point, someone outside the family brought me something they'd found down the street - it was something (I don't remember what) that had been in my purse - which apparently had also been stolen.

I asked him where he found it, and some of us went down the hill to that location (a neighbor's lawn) and rooted around in the grass. We came up with lots of little things that had been in my purse. I was particularly looking for my grandmother's wedding rings, which I kept in my purse. (Not in real life, of course. I'm not that stupid.)

We found the Ziplock bag in which I'd kept the ring (also not in real life) and the ring was gone, but in its place was a pendant (that doesn't exist in reality) that had originally been loose in my purse. Why the burglers a) didn't take the pendant, which was valuable and b) bothered to put it in the bag formerly containing the ring, was a topic of much discussion.

Then we were talking about what to do next, because I needed to find that ring. Too much sentimental value. Should I go to pawn shops? In what areas? Or fax photos? And did we have photos?

And then I woke up or something.
