I think it is a wash. It is cheaper to travel to WDW but I think the resort is more expensive (cause I need to stay on site for my needs. Meanwhile I think it is the opposite for DLR. And I have more online friends near Disneyland as well. I've been to WDW twice in my life. The only time I've been to Disneyland was when I was 4. WDW is an awesome place but it is not as magical and special to me personally.

But to answer your immediate question I think it is a wash money wise (though I am definitely not an expert on this at all). I know more people in SoCal than I do in Orlando and the place I know more people is easier for me to travel to and travel around. Not sure if you understand that or not.
