Does it roost in a closed enclosure?
I'm not sure where you live but if the answer is no then you may want to be prepared for the chicken getting killed overnight by raccoons. When we had chickens that was our biggest cause of death among them (and they aren't necessarily after eggs or anything, they'll eat the chicken or just kill it because it is there).
