Don't stay at the Breakers Hotel - it's overpriced and I don't care how damn "charming" the place is, they don't have an elevator and you have to carry your stuff up and down stairs (oh ho ho, how freakin' charming)... The rooms are really small for the price, too.
On to actual park tips - We usually use the entrance near the Marina, it's easier to do the running of the bulls to Maverick or Millennium Force from there.
Don't skip some of the excellent smaller rides - Blue Streak is a MUCH better wooden coaster than the big pile of photogenic coaster crap known as Mean Streak (Squeak).
If anybody asks "Where's the best place to sit for Mantis?" the correct answer is "The bench next to the exit" - That ride is painful, foul smelling, and I hear it eats bunnies (when it's not molesting goats). Unless you're really a coaster credit whore, Mantis is one ride I don't advise anybody but hated enemies to ride.
On to enjoyable abuse - My favorite coaster at Cedar Point is Magnum XL-205... It beats the living hell out of me, but it's a caring kind of pain. Just sit in the third row of the first car if you want to experience "The Ejector Seat" - there may be bruises.
Cedar Point does still have a sky ride, and a fun flat ride not to be missed - Cedar Downs, it's like a hopped up carousel, tons of fun.
Lemme know if you have any other questions...
