I can’t stand aspartame (makes everything taste like aspirin), so Diet Coke wasn’t an option. I tried going cold turkey, and just drink lots of water; but it never satisfied me. I craved Coke horribly. Then I started drinking flavored Arrowhead sparkling water. That did the trick! I discovered that it was the carbonation I craved! I drink 2-3 big bottles of it every day. Now, when I’m at work, I’ll buy a can of Coke from the vending machine in the morning and only take a couple of sips. The rest stays on my desk, untouched, for the rest of the day. I’ll also sometimes order a Coke to drink when out at a restaurant. That’s it, I never drink Coke at home.
I think what bothered me the most was this self-professed desire to get healthy, and all this talk of working out, eating right, vitamins, and what's good for you when you get older, yada yada that she has been talking about this last week and a half. She talks about it every day. Then blam-O... four unrepentant Cokes to start the day with. I can see one... maybe two... but four!

I'm no innocent, but I don't go around telling people how interested I am in my health and being healthy while doing something as silly as pounding four Cokes - which I've found out are 155 calories. She'd (theoretically) lose close to a pound a week by just cutting out three of those cans.

Thinking about this has made me re-aware of my own dietary habits. I need to get back to thinking about portion control again. Being so stressed with school, work and finances, married with the fact that for my schoolwork and actual work I'm sitting so much more than I used to, hasn't done my figure well. Lucky for me I'm a fan of the gym...
