When I was tiny my folks had a black and white English Springer Spaniel named Spook. Spook would play in the snow.
My first dog I remember was Princess, also a Springer, and b/w. She was terribly smart and dad used to take her hunting.
Somewhere along the line I picked up a cat named Lisa. (I don't know where I got the name from, I was about 5). We moved, kitty got out, parents retrieved pregnant kitty, and we had kittens. I was about 11 now. Kittens being irresistable, I took a friend to see them. This was something of a cranky kitty, and she chased my friend around the (unfinished) basement of my parents' house, clinging to my friend's back. She slashed me above my eyebrow. I was afraid to tell my mom because I knew she'd yell at me for going down to see the kitties without her. I never dreamed *my* cat would hurt me.
Next cat was a calico stray we named Liza. She lived a long time. A much quieter cat.
My brother had a chameleon at some point, and my other brother had a pet rabbit. I don't know that they ever had names, though it seems odd to not name a pet. Maybe I just don't remember.
Somewhere along the way when Princess passed over the Rainbow Bridge, we got a new Springer from the neighbors whose dog had puppies. This was a Springer, but she was inbred and it showed. Liver and white, kind of a pretty dog, but OMG was she dumb.
As an adult, hubby and I have had various fish, and most recently a dwarf water frog (named Shortbus), as well as dogs and a cat.
His first was Rosebud the Basset Hound.
Then we got Margie, basset queen of the universe. Just ask her. Cranky old lady but we loved her. Then Ottis came along, pampered little boy basset. Margie went onward, and Penelope came along (another basset) to keep him company. Pretty dog, not real bright, but very obedient and cooperative, provided the instruction is simple.
My cat came along, Bast, the black stray kitten. Hub's girlfriend who lived here with us got two cats in a row, one a Siamese/Abyssinian mix, the other a calico stray. She took those with her when she moved out.
Current population- two bassets, one cat, one fish, one snail, and the water frog.
