I'm with Coaster, Monkeygirl & Morri. Especially since I'm right next door to Northridge.

Let me just sum it up, y'all...

THEY ARE THE SUCKIEST THINGS TO EVER SUCK

I am terrified of them. We're talkin' total panic attack, cannot breathe, feet don't even touch the floor as I run screaming into the night over them. In the past, I've always known what to do in the event of one. I keep my head on straight, focus and act accordingly. I usually ride them out standing under a doorway.

And then along came the Northridge quake. I changed completely as a person. My anxiety levels soared into full blown panic disorder. I have no idea how to conduct myself now.

Last night's quake woke me up (I actually have to take sedatives due to poor sleep caused by anxiety, but I rarely do.) So, as the earth started shaking, I FREAKED & bolted. I'm even more scared now living in a two story house.

The funny thing is, I moved into my Grandma's house (the house I grew up in) after my Grandpa passed away. I told her I'd live with her until the house finally sold. I decided that even though she doesn't look or act her age, it might be very helpful to keep an eye over her.

However, she was as cool as a cucumber last night. I flew into her bedroom and clung to her (she's a total night owl who turns in at 2 a.m. I'm in bed by 10 p.m. ). She had to practically crowbar me off of her! She invited me to stay with her in her bedroom and I crawled in bed with her for an hour until I settled down, prayed, and then I returned to my room. My boyfriend, who is in Valencia, felt it, too, and stayed on the phone with me for about an hour. He knows I'm terrified of my own shadow.

It's nice to know that Grandma can count on me during emergencies.

My lights and TV stayed on all night. I was UP ALL NIGHT UNTIL WORK, only sleeping a few minutes here & there. I force my self to stay awake, like my being up will you know, help me to have more control over the earth's crust.

I'm punchy & worthless in my office today, due to severe FCS (fraidy cat sydrome). We only had one collectable figurine fly off the bookcase. You can haw haw all you want, and believe me I know I'm a total wussy, but if you went through Northridge, you might understand it just a little bit more!
