Maybe water has the same effect on the moose as it can have on people and by stepping in it he had to go pee.
Or, well, not as nice an idea, all animals need some sort of water to pee in and use all of the lakes, rivers, and streams as their potties.
It is a beautiful animal, though. And oh my gosh, HUGE!!!! They can do some serious damage, from what I've heard.
