We had family friends that lived in Phoenix for a while. They say that one of the proverbial camel back breaking straws was the day it was so hot that the city shut down...not because you couldn't be outside in the heat (there really is something to that dry heat thing), but no one could actually touch anything without burning themselves. Especially cars, this being in the 80s when cars had so much exposed metal that they turned into branding irons at anything over 95 degrees.
