So, the rejections are starting to pour in. Personally, I'd rather they not send them. I like the "we received your application and we'll call you if we're interested" postcards, but who needs a stack of rejection letters? Or rejection email, as I'm now also getting.
And they all say something like: "With your impressive qualifications, I'm certain you will have no trouble securing a clerkship position elsewhere." What a load of crap. Sure, hypothetically it seems possible, but empirical evidence shows that no one is the slightest bit interested in moi. So stop telling me how "certain" you are. If you have to say something, say something useful. "Your school isn't even in the top 50 -- what were you thinking?!" Whatever. Or say nothing. I could do without the puffery.
