The Lowdown
That was super awesome- like Meatloaf meets Pink Floyd meets Sonic Youth in a streetfight

The Scene
I really didn't know anything about Fiery Furnaces till last night, in fact, I didn't know I was gonna be seeing them until last night either.
The Troubadour is a fun venue, and despite a pretty lame opening act (Pit or Pat - I think that's their name), and a crowd that was about 50 percent "This is the pick of the week in LA Weekly, so let's go to it", The Fiery Furnaces really put on a great show.
If you like straightforward pop or rock, they wouldn't be your cup of tea- certainly more ballsy experimental than most bands out there now. There were some great grooves, excellent keyboard work- bonus points for the guy being named Matthew, but I think I annoyed the people behind me who kept yelling "Matthew, we love you" by responding "Thanks!"
