I'll take you out as a PA sometime on one of my shoots so you can see how I work and what I do.
If it works out, we can see about trying you out on second camera on some paid gigs that would pay $20-$25 an hour working under my direction.
I have to warn you though as honestly as I can - I'm very hard-assed and particular when it comes to shoots. I like to work with people who are "commando" out there - not afraid to sweat, get dirty, and be extremely physical (ENG style), even in the blaring hot sun. My shoot ratio is very high - usually 45 minutes per hour, and that other 15 minutes is usually spent with blocking and set-up. I think Ken only puts up with me because he's my husband. And, it takes about 2 days to recover from a full day of shooting. It's like playing hard-core MouseAdventure with added weights.
