I share the love/hate relationship with the holidays. On the one hand, things are pretty, and the flavor of the day is cinnamon or pumpkin or eggnog. All fantastic things.

But then we get the stress. Buying stuff for people, and expected to spend a ton of money it seems. Feeling like a useless lump when I try to select decent gifts that aren't so terrifyingly expensive. Constant stress that my gift sucks, even after my care in picking it out. Then you get the "me" crowd who is so stressed out over their own buying that they forget other people inhabit the planet. Since I'm stressed, I'm inclined to hurt them and that's not good. It stinks when it seems like everybody else in the entire city is spending time with their families and I am far away and alone. That isn't fun. We're going to Vegas for Christmas and nowhere for T-day. I'm happy and sad about both of those facts.

Is it January yet?
