I've enjoyed the Faith arc best, because it was written by Vaughn (of Y the Last Man) instead of the TV staff writers. Great writers, but Vaughn seems to have his hand firmly in both writing styles (he wrote for LOST, as well) and gets the pacing of panel writing. Whedon has a tendency to pace his comic books like tv shows, complete with commercial interruptions. V also seemed to nail the character's voices. The first arc in the Season 8 series felt really off to me, and I think it's because the writers underestimated how much the actors brought to their roles. Reading the Faith arc, the characters felt inhabited, had weight. Very cool.

Totally missed the Firefly book. Hmmm.
