Since there is no A/B remote functionality, it would be a little challenging.
While idly chatting about the possibility of two carousels, we figured that we would always have one unit on and one unit off. Use the power button to "toggle" between the two units and then use the remote on the active unit.

On the subject of universal remotes, the only one I could never replace with a universal remote is the Tivo remote. I have to say that amongst other things, they really did a good job on that remote.
Several of my current remotes could do a sufficient job as a "universal". If I would just get around to programming them...
