OK... I've been threatening a "movie night" followed a by a discussion (for a podcast?) for a while now...
This Saturday evening, we'll be watching the Ghibli movie "Tales From Earthsea," based on the Ursula Le Guin "Earthsea" stories. It's directed by Goro Miyazaki, Hayao's son, and won't be released in the US until 2009 (because the Sci-Fi channel has a 5-year lock on the the rights and its miniseries aired in 2004).
Luckily, the Japanese DVD contains both the Japanese dialogue (with English subtitles) and the English cast featuring Timothy Dalton, Willem Dafoe, and Mariska Hargitay.
For movie viewing, our living room can comfortably seat 8, so after Heather and I are counted, that means there's room for 6, so an RSVP is probably the way to go.
We'll have a vote on whether to go with subtitles or the English dub. In the event of a tie, the dogs will decide... somehow...
Here's
one of the trailers...
