Heh well I'll be doing the gumball rally that day -- and if I haven't found anyone to go by then, then I probably won't go at all -- the money is due at the beginning of February.
Cruises are always fun, they're like giant floating hotels (or small cities). It isn't like you're sitting on the boat ALL the time (there are stops, shore excursions, etc.). You always meet new people from all over the world on cruises. They're pretty relaxing -- and I almost NEVER take relax-type vacations, mostly gogogoGOGOGOGO vacations.
I agree though -- it is a long time to take off of work (and a long cruise... but it is nice to be able to completely escape from real life for a few weeks into a nonstressful atmosphere where you don't have to worry about anything whatsoever). I didn't go on vacation last year at all so that I could do this trip.
Plus there's always Toyko in 2009 if you want something land-based
