Chances are, by "repair" they mean "replace" and it would probably be less than a new one. So you'd need to as yourself if you want a new toy or would be happy with the same version of the toy you have for less fundage.
I've sold several completely broken iPods on eBay before. I clearly state that the iPod is broken - and have gotten around $50 each for them. People buy them for parts.
