Keep in mind, Victory Garden was filmed in the mid west or back east (wasn't it a Chicago show?), so the plant choices are very different.

Take a look at Coleus for beautiful leaves or Sweet Potato Vine (in both chartreuse and plum) for beautiful foliage color. As far as plants go, Fuchsia, Hydrangea, camellia, rhododendron (some varieties will grow here), begonia, Calla, foxglove, primrose, gardenia, dianthus, alstrolemeria. If you like the "orchid" look, there is aplant whose nam I can't remember at the moment, but they are selling them at TJ's at the moment. The name will come to me.
