For those of you who are unaware here's what went down.
A spring storm popped up out of nowhere last night and headed straight for Downtown Atlanta. At about 9:30 a Tornado warning was issued for the Downtown area which was busy with several events going on around the Georgia Dome. A basketball game was taking place inside the facility (that I was watching) and suddenly around 9:45 PM you could hear a loud roar and girders and other structures in the ceiling started to swing and debris fell onto the court. They ended up reuming that game and canceling the game that was to follow. Damage is evident at the Georgia Dome, the adjacent World Congress Center (a convention facility), The CNN Center, and The Omni Hotel. There is extensive water damage and shards of glass all over the place. billboards were tossed like toys onto cars that are totaled. But thank God no one was killed.
The sun is now coming up and now officials can now take stock of the extent of damage. On the radio they are describing the scene as a "War zone"
