I, too, am so sad to hear of his passing.
He was the special guest at a screening of Cinderella I was so glad to have attended - he'd always been my favorite. Despite the difficulty he had talking, Andreas Deja was able to discuss the film with him, and he expressed with such passion that to properly animate (even when animating an "ugly" stepsister) you had to feel the emotions of the characters. I may not be an animator, but his passion had a great effect on me as a writer.
I, too, am so glad that I took time that hectic morning two weeks before the wedding to attend the estate. His xeroxed storyboard mock-up sits in my living room - I think it's time that we framed it and found the perfect place to pay tribute to his brilliance.
