I've got a fix for that: (Mine was doing it as well)
1. Right Click on "My Computer", select "Manage"
2. Head to the Device Manager (Mangler)
3. Find your CD/DVD-ROM in the list, should be under CD-ROM/DVD Drives
4. Double Click it, to open the Properties window.
5. Hit the Properties tab.
6. Make sure the slider is all the way up, as well, make sure that "Enable Digital..." is checked. If it was set this way, uncheck the Digital option.
7. Try to play now.

Been there, done that - repeatedly
The thing still plays DVD's without a hitch, just won't do CDs.
