If it was
House then I think the issue in question was chimerism which is a somewhat different thing (and within a year
House,
CSI, and
Crossing Jordan all did shows where chimerism was the gimmick so I assume something happened to make it news in the 12 months prior to that).
In reading about this stories type of thing (
fetus in fetu) on Wikipedia just now I was surprised to see it is as common at 1 in 500,000 briths. Remember
that list of number of babies born in various countries each year? Well, that means this happens in India about 50 times a year. Neat.
Also at the Wikipedia page you can find reference to a 7 year old Kazakhstan boy referred to a doctor when something appeared to be moving in his stomach.
