For some reason the woods lining the Pioneer Graveyard trail were especially creepy
I wanted to go further down this path... this is the trail beyond the graveyard entrance. Went
perfectly
with my brother's story about the last surviving pioneer's ghost trying to drag people west (btw: the lake is west of the campsite, so the story was that if you visited the graveyard after dark, the ghost would follow you back and try to drag you west in your sleep and that victims would be found drowned with bruising around their wrists and ankles... my brother spins a good yarn)
Some turn-of-the-century gravestones
My niece did NOT leave my brother's side after that!
