Like Becky Sharp, I think I could be very good if I had $XXX,XXX amount a year. Like Virgina Woolfe, I think I could write to my heart's content - real work - if I had a body gladdened with good food, good wine, a room of my own, and freedom from the tyranny of a paltry income.

I'd certainly travel. I'd live all over the world. I would dress very well.

So I guess my benefactor would have to be wealthy? How would I pay my benefactor back would kind of depend on the benefactor, I guess. Like, maybe I'm Pip, and I helped to free a prisoner. In some way, I'd be owed a favor sometime down the line...heh.

I suppose I could dedicate some works to my benefactor?

Actually, maybe he or she wouldn't need a lot of money. Give me a year off from working. Pay my bills and my rent, and give me a small stipend for food and stuff. Then I would work, work, work on writing. And when a year is up, I'm either earning a living as a writer, or I go back to the grind, and it will all just have been a strange experiment.
