He did die. That was his death. Disney put him in the sequels so the original film would be more 'family friendly'. Eesh. Next thing you know they'll do a voiceover of Bambi's father saying " Your mother is injured "

*= in Star Wars, Anakin Skywalker was murdered by Darth Vader. In the sequel that followed (almost 4 years later) Darth Vader claims that HE his Anakin Skywalker, which was not true. Star Wars was written as one single story with no sequel.
