What he does is more like Colbert, except without the wink to the audience. It's easy to mock the stupid. It's much less easy to blend in with the stupid, to the point that they think you're one of them, and then to never let up on the scam, no matter how bad the situation gets. That is balls. While I don't care for any of SBCs characters, I think what he does is amazing. When Colbert pulls off the same stunt, say at the White House press dinner, not 10 feet away from the president, I am properly shocked and awed.
I may finally rent Borat, and cringe my way though the stuff that hits too close to home. (I do come from good mid-western stock and a long line of trailer-folk.)
