I'm not sure I understand your difference between "impractical" and "inconvenient." Yes, I COULD take a bus, but the ~3 hours I would lose from y day would result in a significant negative impact to my life, reducing the amount of time I have to accomplish anything outside of work and putting undue strain on personal relationships. That is BOTH impractical and inconvenient.

"Impractical" does not mean "impossible". It means that it offers an unworkable solution. Cutting my out-of-work free time in half is not a workable solution.
