There is nothing wrong with your TV set - it's just that the American TV Stations are all broadcasting in UMW (ultra-mega-wide) format. The reason your image is only 1/2" tall is that you now need a set that is 9 feet wide to keep the viewing ratio correct.

High-Def is sooooo yesterday.
