Laura, that's awful. People breed dogs, seeing the high prices that puppies bring, but a private breeder (who has no idea what they are doing) isn't going to get that. I was told once that by the time you factor in food, care, shots, vet stuff, and all that- breeding isn't profitable unless you have many dogs (puppy mill, with its own problems).
I don't understand people who want to breed the dogs. Is it an ego thing? We have a *lot* of dogs. Stop breeding unless you actually know what you're doing. Even then- chill a bit until we get this stray thing under control. Our Ottis came from a family that intended to breed him, and I'm glad we got him because they have no idea what they are doing. It's true that breeding a male is less stressful for a male than a female, but still.
