One of the regulars at the Casa de Mousepod screenings has never seen any David Lynch movie (one of my favorite directors).
We talked about the different options for introducing her to Lynch: Eraserhead (his first), Blue Velvet (his breakthrough), even the Pilot episode of "Twin Peaks". But last month, when I finally saw Maya Deren's "Meshes of the Afternoon", and found out how much she loves it, I decided to go with Lost Highway.
The problem is, Lost Highway is a movie that Mrs. Mousepod doesn't want to revisit anytime soon.
So yesterday, with the Mrs. out of town on a mission for the Mouse, we decided to have an impromptu screening of the movie (with H's blessing, of course). Alas, by the time we got the Twitter invite out, nobody else could make it. Undaunted, we decided to watch it anyway... but by the time we both finished our household duties, it was after 9 pm, too late to start the 2 hour+ movie.
So it's tonight. 7:30 pm. We're going to watch the 15 minute Maya Deren film first, with Lost Highway starting no later than 8pm.
