It shouldn't be too long of a line and I think it is worth the wait to take the boat trip. It ISN'T worth the second wait (IMO) to go inside the pedestal. For what we got to see (you don't go up the statue any more - just inside the base to take a peek up her dress), it wasn't worth the horrible second line. I do miss having seen Ellis Isle (because of the time we wasted in line to go into the statue), which is the second stop on the boat trip.
Also, for good barbecue in Manhattan, visit
Virgils - just off of Times Square.
For something offbeat, visit the
Museum of Sex (MoSex). It isn't some sleazy place, but actually kind of interesting.
