Yes, the overly exuberant fans were annoying (we had one behind us, but he mellowed out after the first few minutes). But it was a lot of fun seeing the movie with a bunch of fans who did applaud and cheer at the right times!
The GusMeister and I enjoyed the movie, but unfortunately I don't think it will do well beyond HHGTTG fans. If you don't "get" the book, you aren't going to "get" the movie.
But I hope I am wrong.
