Thanks EVERYONE! You really made my day. I've been out this morning "working" in my garden, my one world of refuge where I can help things of beauty to grow. I was delighted to see that an orchid I'd bought three or four Thanksgivings ago is about to bloom. One of my favorites, it has deep velvety purple pedals with a golden yellow throat. I'm hoping it'll bloom on my birthday weekend; but even if it doesn't, I'm glad to see it's finally going to rebloom.
