Thanks for sharing your story, BD- it's remarkable, inspiring and means a lot to me as the parent of a great kid who's faced some challenges in her life early on as well. I'm pretty proud of her, and your parents must feel the same way about you. Everyone deals with adversity in their lifetime, but some just get it out of the way sooner. I think in some ways those people are lucky- they learn early on what are the truly important things in life, they don't waste time on negatives, and they live their lives with more appreciation of the simple things like friendship, family and love.

I have a lot to be thankful for. I'm thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful for my country, and especially thankful that this election year delivered us back to what I consider sanity. (Or something close to that). I hope to be thankful for true equality for all men and women of this nation, and I am thankful for all who work toward that end. I am especially thankful for my girl- she's just an awesome kid and I am eternally grateful for her presence in my life. I really am blessed.
