He singlehandedly spearheaded the great monster revival of the 60s, and for this we must give him thanks. He also was responsible for bringing the novel of Fritz Lang's Metropolis back into print in the 60s. Written by Mrs. Lang, Thea von Redberry, or something.
I met him once at a memorabilia show. He was reminiscing with his pal, fellow icon Ray Bradbury. The conversation spanned King Kong, Fay Wray, Forbidden Planet, Anne Francis and famously bad restaurants.
I cherish the memory.
