That's logical, since that's where all the changes occur- people getting on and off the freeway all go through the right lane. I was talking with a truck driver over the weekend and his suggestion for improving traffic flow through cities was to put the trucks in the left lane (because they mostly go through and don't exit, and would be happier not being involved in merging traffic).

Nonetheless, I also like to be in an outside lane; I like to have somewhere to go when the guy in front of me does something stupid. I drive on the right because I also like to keep my speed down (improves my gas mileage). I just keep an eye out for idiots.
