From what I've seen (and tried with a friend's Samsung 2550 Bluray player), along with reading on AVSForum and blu-ray.com, resume is only available on NON BD-J discs, with certain players - I've seen posts of certain Samsung models not resuming even on non BD-J discs.

I use WinDVD plus Bluray for most of my playback, and use bookmarks to resume play.
