No, Thurston has Luxating Patella - basically he's getting the groove under his kneecap deepened, his kneecap put back on and the tendon pinned to the bone. Not easy surgery - with a 8-12 week recovery time to boot. But, it is also a common surgery for small dogs and he's a young boy and should be ok. It's just a bit more dangerous because of the anesthesia required. All of the Brachy Breeds have issues with anesthesia.

Chris is the one with the hernia - not an uncommon condition either. He should be recovered in about 2-3 weeks.

The doctor told both of us that it is better if he gets up and walks around, so I'll be the one ringing the bell.
