In the way that Roger Waters is known for the gritty and cynical side of Pink Floyd, a band with a psychedelic stamp.
Paul McCartney is known for the fluffy popsicle side of The Beatles, and for his ultra fluffy cherry popsicle solo career which followed.
Both are pretty mainstream and uberfamous for Coachella, but McCartney seems a little too pop-oriented for the venue (in my never-actually-been-to-Coachella opinion of outsiderdom).
Trivia re both artists: Pink Floyd recorded their first album at Abbey Road studios, across the hall from where The Beatles were at the same moment recording a little LP called "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band."
