Betting on the Super Bowl for fun and profit
Okay kids, this one's free...the next'll cost ya.
2-bet parlay:
Cardinals to win (+200)
Over 46.5 total points scored
$50 to win $235 (4.7:1)
There's not a lot of value at this Super Bowl. The Steelers are 7 point favorites...and in all reality, that line is probably spot on. A good play, I believe, is to go with an underdog if it has a realistic chance to win and handcuff that bet with the most likely path to victory. In this case, if the Cardinals win, it'll most likely be because they scored and scored again. So if you like the Cards to win, you might as well throw in the Over to bump the odds from 2-1 to 5-1. Is there a better than 20% chance that Arizona will score enough to win this game? Fvck and yes. In fact, I'd put the likelyhood of an Arizona win (and, it follows, covering the over) at close to 40%. This bet is one of the few ways to get the best of it this year.
Prop bets:
I don't usually mess with Super Bowl prop bets but two caught my eye this year.
Anquan Boldin...MVP (15-1)
This is a good value for an incredible talent with something to prove. With all the attention Fitzgerald is sure to draw from Pitt's D, Boldin is an absolute steal here for this price.
MVP thanks:
sportsbook.com is giving odds on who the MVP will thank first during his post-game interview. Check out this lead-pipe cinch:
God -125 (bet $125, win $100)
Sweet fvcking Moses! Martha, I need $100,000 to put on God. Seriously, is there any chance the MVP doesn't thank God first? Nope. And if Kurt Warner wins it, Oh Lord! Bet the farm on this one, people. You'll thank me later.
