No clue what that's about, but I don't own the tools necessary to drill through it, so I had to pick another spot and hope for the best.
Unfortunately I didn't think the 2nd spot through very well and drilled a hole in a stupid spot. So that meant a 3rd hole. Fortunately I don't really give a crap about there being a couple extra holes in that built in desk.
Then after all that it turned out that I was about 10" of cable short to wire the lights as I wanted them. There should have been plenty based on my initial plans, but due to a few factors, things got shifted and there wasn't enough. Determined to make yesterday the first day in a couple weeks without a trip to Home Depot, I just sacrificed another lamp (one that we were using previously to light the closet, so no longer necessary) for its cord. Worked perfectly.
So now we've got stable shelving, spiffy chrome hanging bars, and a 67% increase in linear hanging space. Hooray! It went so well, I'm thinking of doing the same in the 2nd bedroom. But that'll be after fully finishing this one (patching and painting left to do), and after some general house organizing/getting rid of crap.

Congratulations! I'm sure the second one will be even better.
