As a side note our little bakery shut down, so no pretend King cake for me, boohoo!
Semi-Homemade did a pretend King Cake last week... they used canned Pillsbury-type breadsticks, and basically braided them together, made the braids into a ring, baked, shoved in the token, then mixed up heavy cream and cream cheese frosting over low heat and poured that on the cake.
